We've provided the state of Utah with a streamlined scheduling experience that ultimately reduced cost and enhanced real-time communication, and aggregated data for the backend portal.
The COVID-19 pandemic created a considerable challenge for public health departments. The states had to ensure vulnerable residents were getting priorities and the rest of the population could schedule their appointment and receive follow-up communication messages.
Healthy Together is a health technology company launched in March 2020. Healthy Together is a proprietary health platform that builds SaaS technology for government, education, and enterprise. Healthy Together's mission is to improve collective health and make government and enterprises more efficient.
Initial product pattern explorations
The public health departments struggled with a low vaccine supply. They had to ensure that the vulnerable residents were getting the priority they deserved. But they also needed a way to automate workflows and communicate with their patients in real-time. They wanted a solution that could be integrated with other providers to find appointment sites in real-time and communicate with patients efficiently and securely.

User problem
Due to the low vaccine supply, general appointments weren’t available for everyone.
Help residents with streamlined experience to schedule a date, location, and appointment time in-app and provide communication and alerts regarding local health updates and immunization requirements.
Business problem
Appointment scheduling involved a manual process, and it was time-consuming and expensive. The state of Utah was looking for a solution to help them manage/run government-operated vaccine sites or integrate with private providers.

High-level user experience screens
Our team worked over a few weeks to build an app that supports the entire process, from the waitlist to getting residents tested or vaccinated, and provides real-time data to public administrators. The experience supports booking, scheduling, and rescheduling as well smart alerts for appointment reminders and availability. Once complete, residents can securely access their testing vaccine records directly in the app, real-time communication from the department of health regarding local health updates and immunization options requirements, and more through our backend dashboard. Health administrators can view real-time aggregate data and customer reports on the number of registrations and appointments.

We successfully deployed the feature for the State of Utah and reduced costs by maintaining and consolidating fragmented solutions into an integrated mobile platform. The scheduling product is now a core module of a fully integrated Healthy Together health platform that can be configured as custom solutions across various government and enterprise verticals.
